UNDERSTANDING PROFILES
PATH OF TITANS
This guide explains how to effectively use profiles, quickly navigate them to find the info you need, the differences between profiles for Path of Titans and the Isle, and the definitions of some key terms.
You should read the entire profile of the animal you are playing, but this guide can help you find specific information when referring back to it or checking on a potential rule-break.
DIFFICULTY LEVEL
This will give you an idea of how complicated the profile is. This varies on the amount of roleplay experience needed, the dangers which the species faces and how aggressive they are. Generally speaking, the more aggressive a profile, the more difficult it is to play as while remaining realistic.
HARD profiles fall in this category, and common examples are apexes. MEDIUM difficulty require some level of expertise in roleplay. EASY profiles are the best ones for a new player to start with, as their dynamics are simpler to follow.
PROFILE SUMMARY
This provides a brief overview of the profile and the animal's niche (role in its environment), as well as giving you its general 'vibe'.
GENETIC INFORMATION
Here you can see the in-game model we're using for the species, and any modifications we've made to its stats. Some profiles recommend specific subspecies, and while these are not a hard rule they are soft-enforced by players. For instance, by finding the recommended subspecies more attractive as a potential mate.
The recommended abilities section refers to abilities you should equip to carry out specific behaviours in the profile, rather than listing the most effective fighting moves or most efficient survival builds.
GENERAL BEHAVIOUR
This section contains any general behaviours for that species, like habitat, activity patterns, or species-specific behaviours such as burrowing or collecting things.
It might also include information regarding any sexual dymorphism there might be, and any extra data regarding their day-to-day lives.
NOTE
Some profiles are under a "strictly regulated" status, meaning that they are more under watch. Breaking profile with these animals might mean a harsher punishment than normal!
DIET AND FEEDING
Under this section can be found information about what the species eats (i.e. herbivorous, carnivorous, etc.), hunting and foraging styles, any specific hunting rules, and possibly lists of preferred prey. Note that preferred prey lists are not comprehensive nor a strict rule; they instead serve as a guide.
NOTE
Path of Titans has different defence rules than the Isle. As well as doing away with group types, herbivores no longer flee at the first drop of blood. Rather, carnivores have to actively separate one from the group (though some herbivores may still just abandon each other).
INTRASPECIFIC (SAME-SPECIES) INTERACTION
Here you can find information on group sizes, how groups form and interact with each other, specific styles of communication between members of the same species, and territorial behaviour.
It will also contain details about defence rules in a group (i.e. who can defend who and to what extent). Note that the term actively defending someone refers to the act of going out of your way to protect them rather than just yourself.
INTERSPECIFIC (OTHER-SPECIES) INTERACTION
This section involves how the animal reacts to different species, and along with general information on its temperament includes what other species it competes with and may behave territorially towards, what its predators are and how it reacts to them, and other information like symbiosis (where two species work together in some way).
REPRODUCTION AND DEVELOPMENT
Under this section can be found information on courting, nesting rules, hatchling/juvie behaviour, and similar.
COURTING
Here is described how that species finds a mate - so are the behaviours that must be portrayed before nesting. The section will also contain information on how the animal might compete for mates, and what is considered attractive in a partner.
NESTING
This subsection contains information on how and where the animal builds its nest (or not, as the case may be), how many eggs you can have per nesting, and the time in between nesting events. These are enforced as hard rules.
DEVELOPMENT OF YOUNG
NOTE
As a general rule, animal growth is separated into two stages: young (hatchling, juvenile, and adolescent) and mature (subadult and adult). Mature animals may mate.
Here is documented the behaviours and development of young dinosaurs, and any specifics on when parents can and cannot defend them.
