SITE ECHO

HUINCUL AND CANDELEROS FORMATIONS

ENVIRONMENT

Site Echo is a large, arid landmass scrubland with rock formations and rivers, far away from the sea-line.

Fossil finds in South America have grown over the past few years, giving rise to a new understanding of Southern dinosaurs as we uncover some of the largest animals to ever walk the earth. Based on the Early Late Cretaceous formations of Neuquén, Argentina, this Site truly is home to titans.

NOTE TO RESEARCHERS

Here animals must face not only the dry land, but the rugged terrain and the lack of thermal regulation usually managed by the sea. Days are scorching hot and nights are very cold. Home to the great and small, Site Echo provides challenge to all species, and some have overcome the hardship and thrived as a result.

SEASONAL VARIATION

Site Echo has a dry climate punctuated by periods of brief yet intense rains. Both seasons bring with them different challenges, such as a lack of vegetation and water, to flooding.

THE WET SEASON

THE DRY SEASON

The wet season is characterised by distinctively more rain, meaning resources are more plentiful.

  • In game we simulate this by turning off the water quality system and placing down more food.

During the dry season Site Echo experiences significantly less rainfall. While there is usually still enough water to go around competition typically heats up between herbivores.

  • The water quality system is turned on during the dry season.

However, such high volumes of water brings with it the risk of floods. Dangerous oceanic creatures are also more prone to venturing further inland.

Long periods with little rain means the land is often very dry and therefore prone to wildfires.

MAP OF THE SITE

Our research team has compiled a detailed map of the Site and areas of animal behaviour for your use! Please note that we are currently working off a smaller area of the wider Site due to a lower population of dinosaurs.

The greyed-out area is where you are not supposed to be. Use your the mini-map on the corner of your screen (if enabled) or the larger map accessed by pressing the 'M' key to identify where the 'playable area' is.

Be aware that the populated area may change as we learn more about dinosaur populations and their needs.

BLACK ROUTE:

This indicates the Argentinosaurus migration route.

BLUE PATCHES:

These indicate Rhamphorynchus roosting spots.

GREEN PATCHES:

These indicate forested areas.
